1) What are the valid documents accepted as Proof of Identity (PoI) and Proof of Address (PoA) for getting new Prepaid/Postpaid SIM Card which must be accepted by all Mobile Service Providers of India
Please provide a separate list of valid PoI and POA.
2) Is Driving License is valid PoI or PoA for getting a new Prepaid/Postpaid SIM card
3) Is Voter ID is a valid PoI and PoA
Many SIM Card retailers and Mobile Company Employees reject & denies to accept the Black and White Voter ID Card issued by Election Commission of India as PoI or PoA on the ground that photo in the Voter ID is not clear without specifying what degree of clarity of photograph is acceptable.
Does Department of Telecommunications has decided any quantitative measure to reject a document as PoI or PoA on the grounds of Clarity of Document or parts of it
4) Is there any govt authority/bench/officer to whom a citizen can approach/appeal to in case rejection of document as valid PoI or PoA for getting new SIM Card
If not, then to whom & where a citizen can approach & appeal to in such rejection of valid document
5) Please provide the latest written directive from Department of Telecommunications, India or Telecom Secretary of India to telecom companies regarding/specifying the rules and regulations and list of acceptable PoI and PoA documents for getting a new SIM Card.
