Under the provisions of the RTI Act, kindly furnish-
The DoT had issued a notification to all telecom operators to discontinue the use of Aadhaar eKYC (electronic know your customer) service of Unique Identity Authority of India (UIDAI) both for verification as well as for issuing new mobile connections, last year.
1. Whether Jio, Airtel and Vodafone have complied with this order. If so, kindly furnish on what dates the compliance reports were sent.
2. Whether the telecom operators are required to delete the Aadhar biometric details stored by them, after the Honorable Supreme Court ordered the striking down of the same.
3. Whether a customer can demand the deletion of his or her biometric details and aadhar details to the telecom operators.
4. Whether there exists any mechanism for a customer to confirm whether his or her aadhaar details and biometric data have been deleted by the telecom operators. If so, furnish the details.
5. If not, kindly furnish the steps to be taken to confirm the same.
6. Whether any other notification in this regard was issued after the Government of India brought in the Aadhar Amendment Act 2019. If so, furnish the details of any such notifications enabling telecom operators to use Aadhaar Ekyc and on what conditions.
