I am writing this with a lot of hope as I read the below news.

Once a phone is lost or stolen in India, it is gone unless it belongs to some influential person.
Why not DoT direct all telecom operators to block their services on stolen mobile's IMEI.
The value of the phone will become less than half and so will stealing rate.

This will be an another huge step in the right direction.
