International Organizations - ITU

  • Engagement with International Telecommunication Union (ITU)ITU is the specialized agency of the United Nations on Telecommunications. India has been a Memebr of ITU since 01.01.1869. ITU has a memebrship of 193 states apart from Membership from the Industry, Associations, Organizations and Academia. The ITU has three sectors viz. Standardization, Radio, Development. For Asia Pacific regional coordination, ITU has a regional office in Bangkok.India is also a Member in the current council. India is actively engaged in all the three sectors of ITU on different platforms. The Department of Telecommunications is the nodal agency for coordiating with ITU from India.
